    Surviving Churches in Stressing Times

    2011 - 08.20

    Surviving Churches in Stressing Times

    Greetings from Miami, Florida.

We’re doing the show from Miami this week where we’re speaking to a church on the trends, which will be affecting us in the next five years.

As such, we’re taking time off again this week and presenting the speech John did in Branson, Missouri, in spring this year, featuring an update on the possibility of persecution coming to the church in the West.

John’s boralogue analyzes the results of talking to Americans on a 3,000 mile drive from the Pacific Northwest to Florida.

Matching the Past to the Present

    2011 - 08.13

Matching the Past to the Present

So who was Antonio Gramsci? An Italian communist who realized that Leninist Marxism wasn’t going to work. So he created a new system staging a long march through the culture, especially in academia and the media. His method involved changing the attitudes of each generation and introducing Marxism that way.

Saul Alinsky was a key figure who employed Gramsci’s ideas in the United States. Art Crino joins us to discuss the history of this creative Marxist whose work influences us today.

Then we’ll air parts of an address John gave at Steeling the Mind in February, laying an historic trail how American values were so radically changed over just 50-60 years.

During his boralogue, John reads articles written around 1918 by the founder of progressive education, John Dewey. Already Dewey was thinking about converting education into a socialist collective along lines with the abolition of individualism.

    Awash in Unknown Laws

    2011 - 08.06

    Awash in Unknown Laws

Americans are now awash in an avalanche of laws and regulations they can’t possible know or keep, and it’s tangling thousands of them in legal actions, even prosecutions. George Terwilliger was a U.S. deputy attorney general under the George H.W. Bush administration, and he says we need to get this under control because it’s killing business.

Next we’ll examine the BATF’s “Fast and Furious” arms running program, whereby the agency apparently sanctioned illegal sales of weapons to “straw” buyers acting on behalf of Mexican drug cartels. One of these resulted in the death of an American border agent. Jim Gilchrist from the Minuteman Project (www.minutemanproject.com) joins us.

John’s extended boralogue analyzes the worldview dynamics underlying the debt ceiling comic drama that unraveled in Washington.

    Towards a Global Religion: Chrislam

    2011 - 07.30

    Towards a Global Religion: Chrislam

The synthesis of Christianity and Islam in the “Chrislamic” movement seems to be a part of the emerging global religious syncretism. Eric Barger (www.ericbarger.com) details the history of the movement.

With the debt ceiling comic theater on stage in Washington, sooner or later the U.S. government will nevertheless have to default on its financial obligations. But note that the government has already defaulted quite a number of times in history. Jim Puplava from Financial Sense (www.financialsense.com) opens our eyes with an historic narrative.

Turns out a recent study admits that the earth’s overall temperature has generally been flat for the last decade. Global warming skeptics seem to be winning the climate change debate and advocates have been careful not to attribute the current heat wave to it. Meteorologist and climate change skeptic Joe Bastardi joins the show.

John’s boralogue applies the “template test” to the media’s contradictory coverage of the tragic shootings in Norway and how this is indicative of the shaky foundations upon which their value system rests.

    Curbing the Postmodern Drift

    2011 - 07.23

    Curbing the Postmodern Drift

The International Energy Agency (IEA) just issued a report warning that next year there will be a 1.5 million barrel/day shortfall in global oil production. A Barron’s report corroborates this finding. John’s boralogue targets a listener request to detail all the think tank reports on peak oil that have appeared in the last 24 months, reports which the media have largely ignored.

For some reason, youth pastors are increasingly accepting the flaky tenets of post-modernism in their ministries, not realizing they are cutting the legs out from under the foundation of their own Christianity. Russ Miller from Creation Ministries (www.creationministries.org) provides a narrative of the opposition he receives on college campuses, not from secularists, but from youth pastors.

In the last part of Hour One, we’ll do a Middle East intelligence update on the slide of the Arab spring into an Arab winter, along with the rising probability of warfare in that region.

We’ll end the show with a spirited conversation between John and Los Angeles talk show host, Paul McGuire (www.paulmcguire.org), author of “The Day the Dollar Died.”

    U.N. Children’s Rights Treaty Lite

    2011 - 07.16

    U.N. Children’s Rights Treaty Lite

Do you understand all the budget hoopla? You shouldn’t feel badly; most Americans have difficulty separating smoke and mirrors from the real issues. Our politicians really like it that way.

So in accordance with one listener’s suggestion for a summertime show topic, we’ll start an “Economics 101″ thread.

First John’s boralogue detangles some of the budget debate nonsense from the last two weeks. Then we’ll see if economist Dr. Joseph Salerno, Ph.D., from the Ludwig von Mises Institute (www.mises.org) can unravel more of it for us.

Meanwhile, the U.N. just hasn’t been able to persuade several countries to ratify the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, the U.S. among them. But never daunted by rejection, in June the U.N. passed a “lite” version of the treaty, which the U.S. will be expected to ratify. Once again, here’s a progressive idea whose time should never come. Former federal Judge William Wagner (www.parentalrights.org) makes his first appearance on the program. We’ll see what happens in countries that did ratify the original treaty.

    Turning Illiteracy Green in Schools

    2011 - 07.09

    Turning Illiteracy Green in Schools

John’s boralogue tightens the relationship between the triple onrushing crises of economics, oils and food, and adds the probability of war in the Middle East as a fourth leg. This is driven not only by the ideology of the Arab Winter (formerly spring) but also food and energy conflicts as well.

Then, we’ll move to the Middle East update for the week, focusing on the emerging conflict between Syria and Turkey and how this will affect the rest of the conflicts in the region. Ryan Mauro from Threats Watch (www.worldthreats.com) premiers on the program.

It’s time for our 6-month listener interest segment. Why is it so many men don’t pay attention to their health until the keel over from something serious, which could have been prevented? Dr. Sal Giorgianni, M.D., of the Men’s Health Network (www.menshealthnetwork.org) fills us in.

Finally, our kids can’t read or write and are woefully behind the world, but a new trend is catching on to make sure kids are environmentally literate before they graduate. This means making sure they think in politically correct terms when they think green. The State of Maryland is climbing on this bandwagon. Dr. Ileana Johnson (www.canadafreepress.com) returns to SOS.
