What have we learned about the media following the 2016 presidential election? In this week’s boralogue, John looks at the evolution of media throughout the past few decades and shows why we still have divisions in this country a half century after Martin Luther King Jr. called for an end to them. The rules of division set by the media and the elites have been broken and we don’t have to play by those rules anymore. We can unite!

How dangerous is ICANN and its hold over the Internet? Patrick Wood (www.technocracy.news), Publisher of Technocracy.News rejoins the program to show that when you control website and personal data, you control information. ICANN is looking for a home and the UN is sitting at the top of their list of places to nest. Will a tax on information be just around the corner?

The GOP will soon control the White House and both houses of Congress but is that the best party combination between executive and legislative? Jill Gonzalez (www.wallethub.com), Analyst for WalletHub looks at how different political party permutations between POTUS and Congress have historically affected the economy.

We have heard that Muslims and Christians and Jews once lived in harmony in Spain. Dario Fernandez Morera (www.northwestern.edu), Professor at Northwestern University examines the truth behind this myth and discusses current laws against Christians and the West’s inability to fight them due to political correctness.

John’s quote of the week:
“Why are we still evaluating things on the basis of race? We’re supposed to be beyond this 50 or 60 years later. Because some of those people liked keeping the divisions going for their own benefit. But their parameters are now collapsing like a defeated kingdom at the end of an epic movie.”

140048 11/29/2014 Reconstructing Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone! The boralogue this week points out deconstructionist attempts to redefine Thanksgiving, shifting it from the ideals of freedom, liberty, and personal responsibility to focus on conquest of Native Americans while promoting social Darwinism. But don’t worry – John reminds us of the truth.

There’s a relationship between the values that emanated from the Reformation and what we celebrate during Thanksgiving. Dr. Timothy George (www.beesondivinity.com), is founding Dean and professor of Divinity History and Doctrine at the Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. He kicks off the show speaking on church history and what the Reformation accomplished.

Michael Connelly, (michaelconnelly.jigsy.com and www.usjf.net), constitutional attorney and Executive Director of the U.S. Justice Foundation, continues his analysis of the U.S. Constitution this week by examining amendment number 24.

Next on the program, J. Warner Wallace, (www.coldcasechristianity.com), homicide detective and one-time atheist is author of the book Cold-Case Christianity. He relates how his former views of atheism yielded to an honest examination of Christian claims like a detective would do, and points out that Christians should be better equipped to defend their faith.

John finishes the program this week by demonstrating how faith is actually a logical leap, even after examining mounds of evidence, and how several major religions begin with similar basic assumptions, but only Christianity offers God’s free gift of redemption.

My Paradigm’s Broken

Happy soon-to-be Thanksgiving everyone. In this week’s boralogue, John shows that we should be thankful because we are blessed in America compared with many other nations. When elections and issues and fighting erupt, we should step back, respect one another, listen to each other, and if rights collide, find a way to leave each other be. We live in a free society and freedom means you are free to do what your conscience dictates.

Why is there such an outrage following the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States? Dr. Steve Turley (www.turleytalks.com), Fine Arts Professor at Eastern University rejoins us to discuss the Left’s bruised post-election paradigm as well as secularism in the United States, emancipatory politics, and the rise of populism.

Is there such a thing as a free market? Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute Nicole Gelinas (www.manhattan-institute.org) looks at healthcare and the housing market and posits that the market becomes far less free when government gets involved.

John’s quote of the week:
“We have been blessed. As Americans fighting over things, we tend to get very selfish at times. Maybe we need to stop forgetting that we have been very blessed and that we should be very thankful to God who established us and has preserved us for as long as He has.”

As always, join us online for our Section 6 intelligence briefing featuring analysis by John on important stories highlighting emerging geopolitical trends around the world.

Loeffler’s Famous Cranberry Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb. fresh cranberries.
  • 2 cups brown sugar.
  • 1 cup apricot brandy.

Add all ingredients to a saucepan on medium to high heat and stir. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, leave uncovered. Stir occasionally and let simmer until it reaches the desired thickness and the cranberries are fully cooked (about 1 hr. on very low heat). Makes 6 to 10 servings. Serve it hot or chilled.

From our family to yours; we hope you enjoy this special treat this Thanksgiving!

Narrative Trumped

After the election this week, many across America are asking, what happened? In this week’s boralogue, John shows that reality became real and now the elites and the media are continuing to push the same narrative they’ve always had, only massaged to accommodate for the new reality. It turns out that when you demean a large portion of the population by calling them racists and other names, that portion grows weary and votes out your candidate.

How are college students reacting to Donald Trump’s election? William Nardi (www.therabblerouser.org), current sophomore at Roger Williams University, joins us to show that students are angry, crying, and at times committing vandalism. Part of the problem lies with politically correct narratives that are taught at an early age and carry over into college.

Finally we explore the topic of euthanasia in Europe and Canada. Wesley Smith (www.discovery.org), Senior Director at the Discovery Institute discusses human exceptionalism and medical discrimination and how doctors, hospitals, insurance providers, and progressive policies are removing patient choice from end of life decisions. How soon before this becomes a reality in America?

John’s quote of the week:
“It’s the very fact that they’ve done nothing but called the people in flyover land names with little rational argument that people voted the way they did. They’re sick and tired of it.”
