Bernie Sanders recently challenged White House OMB director nominee Russell Vought about his Christianity, questioning his ability to serve because of his faith. In this week’s boralogue, John not only looks at several examples of Sanders violating the first amendment during his questioning but also shows the brilliance and value that our first amendment affords U.S. citizens.

Two freedoms being currently violated on California college campuses are the freedoms of religion and speech. Tammi Rossman-Benjamin (www.amchainitiative.org), Co-Founder of the AMCHA Initiative rejoins us to discuss anti-Semitic protestors at pro-Israel events and how these groups benefit from aligning themselves with other progressives.

Canada is experiencing freedom violations through hate speech laws. Jeff Gunnarson (www.campaignlifecoalition.com), National Vice President of Campaign Life Coalition in Toronto analyzes Canadian tribunals that can remove children from homes if parents are not politically correct when it comes to social issues like the gender identity of their children.

Finally, we look at fake news and the media’s war on President Trump. Seton Motley (www.lessgovernment.org), President of Less Government examines why politicians and the media dislike President Trump and shows that by executing a hostile takeover of a swampy, bureaucratic government, Trump is hopefully setting a precedent for future leaders.

John’s quote of the week:
“On this Fourth of July holiday, remind people of what the earliest rights in our country were … freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press. All of those freedoms are fundamental in keeping freedom itself alive, because once they die, freedom goes with it.”

Section 6 is taking a break this week as we celebrate our nation’s 241st birthday. We’ll be back next week for more analysis by John on important stories highlighting emerging geopolitical trends around the world.

Socialism is gaining popularity in the United States, from Bernie Sanders hawking free everything and demanding higher taxes to university curricula disparaging capitalism. In this week’s boralogue, John looks deeper at socialism and asks: why, after failing every time it has been implemented, would anyone ever consider it a viable option? Socialist regimes bemoan capitalism at every turn but ultimately seek it out when all the money runs dry. America needs to stand up now and shout down this failed system!

Chinese communist leaders are continuing a campaign of religious persecution across their country. Bob Fu (www.chinaaid.org), Founder and President of China Aid Association, examines the government’s motivations and shows that even legally sanctioned Christian churches are experiencing forced confessions, jail time, and even death.

Non-Muslims in Pakistan are persecuted as well through their dangerous blasphemy laws. Author and blogger Shamila Ghyas (www.twitter.com/ShamilaGhyas) gives examples of the laws’ power and goes on to explain that most Muslims are non-violent and need stand up to the extremists.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador on April 16th, killing hundreds and injuring thousands. Wayne Stauble, a real estate developer in the country, describes the devastating aftermath of the quake and the need for preparedness in a time of crisis. Our prayers go out to those in Ecuador.

Finally, what exactly happened to Malaysian Airlines flight 370 in March 2014? H. Richard Austin (www.thecomingofarmageddon.com), financial analyst and author of The Coming of Armageddon, analyzes factual evidence of what happened to the flight and proposes that the plane was hijacked for future use in a terrorist event.

John’s quote of the week:
“The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of somebody else’s money. Socialism has never survived by itself and has always had to turn to capitalism to bail itself out.”

With silly season in full swing, it is important to examine our past and determine if our country is walking down a familiar path today. In this week’s boralogue, John looks back to the stock market crash in 1929 and our government’s unhelpful reaction to it. What lessons can we learn from this? More importantly, with politicians offering free goodies and decrying capitalism, are we ready to listen?

We’re taking a whirlwind tour of the globe this week beginning in Sweden, where we invite Nima Gholam Ali Pour (www.situationmalmo.nu), Vice Chairman of Perspectives on Israel, to analyze the Palestinian-friendly Kairos document and how it and the Swedish media are fomenting a growing anti-Israel movement in that country.

Next we travel to the Orient with columnist and East Asia expert Gordon Chang (www.gordonchang.com) who discusses not only China’s crumbling economy and military expansion but also the dangers of North Korean missile testing. Could the United States be vulnerable?

John takes some time to discuss U.S. interest rates and the markets, Russia’s involvement with Ukraine and Syria, and the persecution of Christians by ISIS-controlled countries in the Middle East.

We end our global tour back in Europe where David Goldman (www.reorientgroup.com), Managing Director at Reorient Group, studies Germany’s identity crisis in the wake of refugee violence and shows that their reaction to the emergency is related to their past. Could an identity crisis also be at the heart of Islam in the modern world, influencing violent incidents?

John’s quote of the week:
“Knowing who you are is important to functioning in the world especially in terms of a worldview. When you forget who you are – as a country, as a person, as an organization – then you typically get into trouble when you encounter other groups that don’t have that problem.”

Another week, another debate; this time the myriad of GOP presidential candidates took to the stage. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Congress is scrambling to pass laws to repair Social Security and prevent its imminent demise. In this week’s boralogue, John compares the reality of what Republican candidates are saying and the unrealistic ideology of Democratic candidates. Bernie Sanders wants to give away free stuff. The question is: who will he steal from to pay for it?

The stuff of science fiction movie scripts is quickly becoming the reality of science today. Investigative journalist and author Annie Jacobsen (www.anniejacobsen.com) joins us to discuss the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), its brain to computer interface projects, the ethics involved, and the beginning of artificial intelligence.

All religions and nations should work together in harmony for the good of humanity. Sounds great, right? Carl Teichrib (www.forcingchange.org), Chief Editor of Forcing Change, recently attended the World Parliament of Religions, which promotes this religious harmony, and reports on the conference’s true agenda: religious dilution, acceptance of all gods, and a move to favor the collective over the individual.

John finishes up by looking at a debate in Canada this past week that highlighted the conflicting nature of political correctness. It’s time to speak out against the ridiculous.
