How did we get from the solid American experiment that led to the greatest country in history to today’s attempted Marxist takeover? In this week’s premium boralogue, John looks at two streams of toxic thought that has pervaded our culture for the past century: Marxism and postmodernism. Contrast those with America’s solid foundation of Judeo-Christian values and you see the stark contrast we experience every day in this country.

Freedom is not free. It is a fluke of history. And it must be maintained at all costs. In this week’s boralogue, John shows how our Constitution protects our freedoms by restraining government. The Supreme Court just handed down a ruling against civil asset forfeiture, thankfully upholding freedom and protecting citizens from unjust search and seizure. Where power and money goes, trouble grows.

MIke LeMayBrandon HolthausSteven GrantThe worldview battle in the West is beginning to affect the Church. Joining us to discuss this are Pastor Steven Grant (www.godsdestiny.com), Senior Pastor of Destiny Christian Center in Colorado, Pastor Brandon Holthaus (www.rockharborchurch.net), Senior Pastor of Rock Harbor Church in California, and Mike LeMay, retired General Manager of Q90FM in Wisconsin and former host of Stand Up For The Truth.

Topics on the roundtable agenda this week: preparing the church for the worldview battle to come, unbiblical messages infiltrating the church as a whole as well as the pulpit specifically, and the need for a group of pastors to pray and encourage one another in these times of trouble in the Church.

Andrew LangerHealthcare and insurance are touchy subjects lately and one of the most important topics in the presidential race. Andrew Langer (www.instituteforliberty.org), President of the Institute for Liberty, joins us to discuss the impossibility of price controls and free, free, free stuff for everyone. He also offers solutions to the problem of high prices.

John finishes off the program this week with several stories, including inflation in Venezuela, the history of Marxism in Zimbabwe, and media falsehoods surrounding Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

John’s quote of the week:
The whole idea of rights and freedom is to act as a restriction on government. It’s not anti-government. Our founders recognized that we needed government. But they also recognized that unrestrained power and the mischief that is innate in mankind will also produce tyranny. So the power had to be restrained and divided up so that it could be controlled and accountable.

There are a lot of issues circulating in the world right now and very few of them are accurately reported on. In this week’s boralogue, John jumps from issue to issue, covering the possible halting of the Fed’s rate raising cycle, how support for Mahmoud Abbas is down and support for Israel is up, and the agreement between the Vatican and communist China that seems a little too familiar. Worldviews can somehow be both popular and dysfunctional at the same time.

From the Declaration of Independence to the Constitution, this country was founded on unity, but today it seems to be all about division. We welcome back author and historian Daniel Mallock (www.newenglishreview.org) to discuss the Alinsky tactics of division and constant friction that lead to chaos and loss of freedom. It’s up to us to identify these threats and push back on them.

Europe has also come a long way ideologically, though they are further down the road to division. Writer and retired oncologist David Stolinsky (www.stolinsky.com) analyzes the differences in Europe, both past and present and shows how leftist ideologies are gaining a foothold in America in his home state of California.

The term ‘navigable’ has changed dramatically over the past 10 years. Anthony Francois (www.pacificlegal.org), Senior Attorney with Pacific Legal Foundation, examines how the EPA has deemed tiny draining ditches on private property as navigable and how the Clean Water Act has gone from fighting pollution to becoming a land grab for the government.

John’s quote of the week:
Governments always act in their own best interest, not necessarily in the interests of the people. Because of that, they are most likely to define out of existence those things that would criticize the government itself. Lo and behold, this is exactly what we find happening in Europe.”

In this week’s Section 6, John looks at Russia’s recent skirmish with Ukrainian ships off the Black Sea, failing worldviews in Europe, a mysterious wave-like rumble around the world, as well as other science and legal news stories.

If socialism is such a wonderful concept, why does it always fail and result in tragic results? In this week’s boralogue, John looks at the evils of socialism using Nicaragua and Venezuela as case studies, contrasting the totalitarianism in those countries with the freedoms our Constitution provides here. The media will always praise socialism but we know the truth: it fails whenever it rears its Marxist head.

Social justice has morphed into a politically correct cudgel against free speech, but did it start out that way? Michael Rectenwald (www.springtimeforsnowflakes.com), Liberal Studies Professor at NYU, rejoins the program to discuss how the origins of social justice were rooted in conservatism and family, but from there morphed into its current form of political correctness and totalitarianism.

After so many years of so-called importance, why is the issue of climate change found near the bottom of many people’s concern lists now? Anthony Watts (www.wattsupwiththat.com), Founder and Editor of climate blog Watts Up With That, looks at both the history and future of climate change mania and notes the coercive tactics that alarmists have used to enforce their narrative.

The Catholic Church abuse scandal could be worse than many realize. Philip Lawler (www.catholicculture.org), Director of Catholic Culture, examines the internal politics of the Church, how the Pope factors into it, and the often overlooked need for reform.

John’s quote of the week:
“In free societies, the laws are limited and very clear. In totalitarian societies, they are many and they are vague. That way anyone can be guilty whenever they have to be. So people start self-censoring for fear of arbitrarily violating these norms, which are constantly changing.”

In this week’s Section 6, John contemplates the meaning of life, dives into an alien conspiracy theory, shows the totalitarian mindset among different groups, follows up with news on the Catholic Church, and finishes up with a Christian persecution update.
