Hijacking the Narrative

If you are feeling angst this week amidst all the chaos, you’re not alone. In this week’s boralogue, John lays out the different levels surrounding the riots and protests. There are those who are fomenting division to further their narrative; power brokers who are funding the riots; and politicians who are taking advantage of it. We’re dealing with complex questions, but there’s a vested interest behind the scenes to quash the truth and hijack the narrative.

Victor Davis HansonWhile chaos and anarchy abounds, important information gets drowned out by media reports rife with falsehoods. Back by popular demand is Victor Davis Hanson (www.victorhanson.com), Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He discusses the roles of African-Americans as well as Antifa following the death of George Floyd, and looks at how the media is stoking the fires by its anti-Trump stories and false narratives.

Phil MagnessWe pivot to another hijacked narrative: school choice and how it’s supposedly tied to segregation. Phillip Magness (www.aier.org), Senior Research Fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research, debunks that narrative, recalling the true history of school choice and how modern day educrats are the ones trying to eliminate it.

Charles NegyFinally, we look at the base of operations for many hijacked narratives: the college campus. Charles Negy (www.ucf.edu), Professor of Psychology at the University of Central Florida joins us to discuss his new book on white shaming and show how fairness and equality of standards should be applied to everyone, not just the politically correct.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed as a deluge of news bombards us from all directions. In this week’s boralogue, John rises above the noise and looks at where we stand, including the narrow path between fighting the virus and fighting problems that arise from a slow economy, and how progressive narratives are being uprooted in the virus’s wake. The best way to get through all the noise, however, is with faith in God, who is our anchor point.

Michael FarrisA new battle has erupted on an old narrative: homeschooling is bad for students. Michael Farris (www.hslda.org), Chairman of the Homeschool Legal Defense Association, shows that educrats have always disregarded parental values in favor of the progressive ideologies of teachers. With homeschools gaining in popularity, now these educrats are fighting back.

Bill ReedHow are Russia and Vladimir Putin dealing with the geopolitics surrounding this pandemic? Craig Reed (www.wcraigreed.com), former U.S. Navy Diver and Co-Founder of Us4Warriors Veterans Foundation, analyzes how Vladimir Putin navigates the global chess board as leader of Russia, how he came to power, and what Western leaders should do to compete.

Steve ElwartSteve Elwart, Director of Systems Engineering for Ergon Refining in Mississippi, joins us for the rest of the program to examine all aspects of the oil industry from extracting it out of the ground to delivery at the gas station as well as prices on the oil market. He and John then discuss how different the world will be when we emerge from this pandemic.

John’s quote of the week:
With regard to public schools versus homeschools: “Do the views of the parents get reflected in what’s taught in the school or is government dictating to the students and to the parents what will be taught? Totalitarian societies dictate. Free societies do not.

On this week’s extra segment, we play an interview with Victor Davis Hanson from a little over a year ago where he discusses the reason for President’s Trump’s victory in 2016, mistakes that those on Left make regarding the president, and a few critiques of the administration. John follows up with some analysis on free speech and the economy.

Paradigm Shock

Login to access this full program.

It looks like Cloward and Piven are bringing their strategy to our southern border. In this week’s boralogue, John looks at the reality on the border and how media and politicians are not accurately reporting on it. The media in blue bubble land is working overtime to distract us from not only the border but also the Mueller report, spying on the Trump campaign, and FISA court controversies. Don’t let the powers that be steer the conversation because chances are it will be filled with inaccuracies and hypocrisy.

The media and leftists are still smarting from their 2016 election loss. Will they learn from what happened? Victor Davis Hanson (www.victorhanson.com), Author and Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, joins us to discuss the factors that led to President Trump’s election win, the pros and cons of his presidency thus far, and how liberals’ actions and viewpoints today will most likely backfire come 2020.

Recent power outages in Venezuela have been blamed on either a poorly mismanaged grid system or an attempted cyber coup by the United States. Michael Daugherty (www.TheDevilInsideTheBeltway.com), Author and CEO of LabMD, gives us his view on why the power is out in Venezuela and examines grid vulnerabilities here in the U.S. and the need to improve our cyber security.

John rounds out the show this week covering various important issues including free speech on college campuses, socialist promises from presidential candidates, and America’s economic future with large amounts of unfunded liabilities. We need leaders who will tell us the truth and lead us through the tough times ahead.

John’s quote of the week:
When you’re in a paradigm shift, it goes through several different stages. The first one, people think it’s a bump in the road. The second one, it dawns on people that it isn’t a bump but they try to evaluate things in the light of everything that came before. In stage three, there’s a reconciliation in people’s minds that it has changed and the rules are new rules.

In this week’s Extras segment, we crank up the way back machine to August 2014 and a roundtable discussion with Drs. Jay Grimstead and Eugene Clingman on the authority and power of the Bible and Christianity and how that influences the West. It goes to the heart of truth, something just as relevant today as it was five years ago.
