Postmodernism vs Freedom

Login to access this full program.

It’s important in the fight for our freedoms to understand how we arrived at where we are. In this week’s boralogue, John looks at the progression from scholasticism to the Reformation to the freedoms we have today. Freedom, responsibility, and devotion to God enabled us to gain the prosperity we have. Academia and the media are trying hard to eradicate these things and it’s up to us to understand the battle and fight for what we have.

After further dissecting how we got to this moment of postmodernism, John welcomes Ed Hindson (, Dean of the Institute of Biblical Studies at Liberty University, who examines the problems with postmodern thought and the ways in which we can reach out to those who are struggling under this worldview.

John plays a Steel on Steel interview from March 2009 where he spoke with former ambassador to the UN – and our current National Security Advisor – John Bolton about American sovereignty and how the global governance crowd would like to see it vanish. This interview is just as relevant today as it was ten years ago.

Worldviews guide us in life but those rooted in the truth guide us to the right path. Writer and Pastor Wallace Henley ( joins us to discuss how Winston Churchill, with all of his faults and failures, was the right man at the right time in history. He also emphasizes the importance of worldviews to graduates as they transition from academia to the real world.

John’s quote of the week:
Tremendous freedom coupled with tremendous responsibility coupled with an intense devotion to God and to His Word – those three things enabled freedom in the West. If you take away any one of those three, you don’t have the prosperity that the West was able to achieve.

In this week’s Extras segment, we fire up the way back machine to December 2008, a month after Barack Obama won the presidency. John dissects postmodernism and multiculturalism, and then brings on author James Kalb to discuss how these ideals are different from traditional liberalism and how they are destroying freedom and Western culture.

Worldview Conflict

What is driving the conflicts we’ve seen in the past few weeks in France, Germany, Baton Rouge and Orlando? In this week’s boralogue, John examines common threads through these tragedies and shows that in order to solve the problem, we need to stop listening to politically correct elites and focus on the truth: we have a morality problem and a collision of worldviews.

Is the narrative from Black Lives Matter accurate? Heather MacDonald (, Fellow at the Manhattan Institute reveals statistics which challenge the account that white police officers are the most dangerous threat to black men today. In fact, African-Americans are much more likely to die from violence in their own communities than in officer-related shootings.

John plays a clip of Dave McAlvany and Kevin Orrick ( from the McAlvany Weekly Commentary where they discuss the possibility that the failed coup in Turkey was orchestrated by President Erdogan to gain a more powerful hold on the country.

Is it a surprise that the EU is floundering under its own weight on a flimsy foundation? Wallace Henley (, Senior Pastor at Second Baptist Church in Houston, TX discusses how Christianity was purposefully left out of the EU’s formation and how institutions that cater to political correctness are drowning out the Christian worldview today.

Finally this week, we welcome back Bill Forstchen (, History Professor at Montreat College, who analyzes not only the suppression of freedom of speech and thought on undergraduate and college campuses, but also the dangers of ISIS and our unpreparedness as a country to handle their terror campaign.

John’s quote of the week:
“The violence and the murders that you are seeing must be dealt with at the morality and worldview levels, but those are the very areas where the politically correct crowd will not allow us to go.”
